Can I purchase direct from Lane?

No. Our products are available through existing suppliers.

Are Lane handles commercial grade?

Only the L8 / K8 commercial range is.

I need to remove a deadlock from my door, but I can’t see any fixings to remove it. What should I do?

This would depend upon the manufacturer and lock model. We recommend you contact the manufacturer for further assistance.

Does Lane provide a construction / master key service?

Yes.

Why can’t I get more locks with the key number on the front of the pack?

The number on the pack doesn’t tell us enough information. This is done so other people don’t know your key number when you’re purchasing the lock.

Is there an additional charge for keying alike?

This is dependent upon the customer, but generally, yes there is.

Can I purchase new locks with the same key number of my existing locks?

Yes. This can be arranged through our Special Keying department.

What’s included in the pack?

Most Lane products include everything required for a standard installation, including fasteners, instructions and templates.

Can I use Lane handles near the ocean?

There is no disclaimer to say you cannot. However, ensure you maintain by cleaning regularly with mild detergent.

Does Lane have fire rated locks available?

Yes – please see the commercial range.

Which locks are suitable for rebated doors?

All locks are suitable, but you’ll require a rebate kit, which is sold separately.

How can I put a pull handle on just the front of my door?

You can do this using a single-sided fixing kit.

What’s the difference between the mortise lock and a roller mortise lock?

Lane offers roller mortise locks and latching mortise locks. Roller mortise locks have a push/pull operation, which is best suited to pull-handle applications. Latching mortise locks require a mechanism that operates the latch, normally a lever set.

Can the mortise lock be re-handed? If so, how?

Yes, all mortise locks can be re-handed. Please check the instructions accessible via the relevant product page.

Can the handle be re-handed? If so, how?

Most Lane locks are designed so that re-handing is not required. Some locks that do have a re-handing process are done by a simple adjustment. The only Lane locks that cannot be re-handed are Victoria and Montebello dummy handles.

Which Lane privacy latches are adjustable?

These include: Avalon; Montebello; Victoria; Caletta; and all knob sets.

Why aren’t all privacy latches adjustable?

This depends upon the type of lock - some products cannot be adjusted. In a residential application, a 60mm backset accounts for more than 98% of locks in Australia.

What is “backset”?

This varies depending upon the product, however most Lane residential locks are 60mm backset - this would account for more than 98% of Australian home applications. Lane commercial locks come with a standard 70mm backset as this is the standard commercial measurement. Some locks are adjustable.

What size face hole is needed?

Most Lane locks are designed to be fitted to a 54mm face hole and a 25mm latch hole. This is the most commonly used drilling pattern in Australia and allows for the widest range of replacement applications. Fitting templates that show the drilling pattern are accessible from product pages.

What is the projection of the handle from the door face?

This is different for each product design. You’ll find a drawing showing this projection on each product page.
